It’s coming up to a busy weekend for the Vancouver Skateboard Coalition and our supporters… China Creek Appreciation Day on Saturday and another event at Leeside on Sunday. A collaboration between the Coalition and the Leeside Stewardship Group, “November Rain” is going to be a reminder of how cool Leeside will be when it finally gets finished.
China Creek Park Appreciation Day: THIS SATURDAY, November 18th.
1-4pm with Skate Jam and Prizes happening at 2pm.
Coffee, Hot Chocolate and Tents in place in case it rains.
This is a chance to come and get everyone stoked on China Creek – Parks Board Politicians will be there.

It’s time to start a new type of advent calendar, a countdown from now until next June.
If you feel like making a trip to the north shore the LBC indoor park is a godsend amidst dreadful rain. Although this park is a bit cramped, the mini ramp is more than worth the journey.

congrats on the new site and all the best in the cooperative key to the present/future world…skateboarding welcomes all and yet is thick with vibes…contradiction is one of the best things we can acheive in life so keep er going!!!
Maybe we got a bit ahead of ourselves about the Richmond indoor….so….keep on lurkin’ around those underground parking lots….or come to coalition meetings and maybe Vancouver will get one of our own!
If the majority of people are agreeing or strongly agreeing (awesome!) that the Downtown Skateboard Plaza was/is a positive addition to the neighbourhood then it looks good for the Downtown Plaza and any future developments. That makes me happy, I think I may have a mini party right now where I am 
By now you’re all aware from the newspapers, the radio, or word-of-mouth that something is rotten in the State of China Creek. On October 11th, City of Vancouver parks planner Michel Desrochers announced that he would be presenting to the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation a recommendation that Vancouver’s oldest skatepark be removed to make way for a playground and an accompanying, yet-to-be-defined “junior skate area”. Having attended about two years of meetings, the skaters were choked. Particularly because it had become obvious that the decision-making process was designed to polarize opinions and create two warring camps rather than encouraging the community to work together in creating the best outcome for everyone. We’d been forced onto the defensive in an “us vs. them” battle. So we started writing e-mails and making phone calls.
Well the rain is just pouring down. A good day to write the mayor and council about getting an indoor park. It would be nice if Leeside was set up today. But instead healthy sk8 kids have spend their day inside watching sk8 vids or playing video games mayorandcouncil@vancouver.ca
