Vancouver Courier Article – China Creek

courlogoa.jpg Check this Courier article out. Sometimes, I think people don’t really get just how many people skateboard in this city. Ask any kid what their favorite sport is.

Do people blame soccer teams about what happens in their parks at night? In my opinion, what China Creek Park needs is an extreme makeover. Vancouver City Style. Flowers, gardens, paths, a nice clean area for kids. You know, that kind of thing. It is easy to see that skateboarders are not the problem. Just look at all the successful skateparks around the city and surrounding areas with no problems. I think City staff, Parks Board, and Council see this because they see the other skate parks functioning extremely well. I understand the fact that the residents want to blame somebody for some problems they have been having, but they can’t blame skateboarders.

Yep. Time to write a few more letters, this time send ‘em to the Courier Editor….if you want a chance of getting it published, keep it under 200 words: http://www.vancourier.com/forms/lettersform.html

Sarah you should send what you just wrote to the Courier – you nailed it.

send a letter to the vancouver sun too – they printed the same article – minus the positive comments by parks board commissioner loretta woodcock – so the article is pretty negative:

I just sent a letter off to the Sun. I said it was like blaming soccer players for what happens Oppenheimer Park or blaming voley ball players for beer cans at kits beach. I told them to look at the succesful skate parks we have in the city.
