A guy named Alex from Barbershop Films is looking for skaters to appear in the new production of the Tourism Vancouver Destination Film. They will be shooting in February and want some footage from The Plaza.

Alex has this to say: “The final shots will make up 3-5 seconds in the video, more about and we feel skateboarding is a part of Vancouver culture we must reflect. The talent must be voluntary, price and we need 1 – 3 guys or girls to help out.”

Last night the Park Board gave their final report on their plans for the planned upgrades for China Creek South Park. The meeting was a long one, and because the Stanley Park clean-up issue was moved to first place on the agenda, there was some serious waiting around involved. But once we got our turn, things went well.

I just received an e-mail from park planner Michel Desrochers. The final report on the upgrade to China Creek South Park is going to take place on Monday, January 15th at 7pm at the Park Board Administration Building at 2099 Beach Drive. Happily for the China Creek skaters, things are looking pretty good. Let’s hope it stays that way. It would be cool if a bunch of us could show up and thank the Park Board for listening to us and taking our viewpoints seriously.

For background info… check out the Park Board’s staff report and the city’s China Creek South Park website. You can also look at the agenda for the upcoming meeting here.

Anyone who wants to speak should call Julie Casanova at 604-257-8451.

Letter From Parks Board Re The Plaza

Hi all, viagra 40mg

the Park Board Planning Committee is reviewing the Skate Plaza on January 9, link 2006, the meeting starts at 7 pm – please make sure to check the Park Board website a few days before. It is really important that skateboarders come out to support the Plaza – it would be best to register to speak, although unregistered speakers can usually talk, too ( the formal meeting notice which should be on the website in early January and it will tell you whom to contact in order to register). Please note: this is an update and not a decision point. However, it is still vital that people come out to support the Plaza. It is likely/possible that people opposed to the Plaza will come out to speak against it, so it would be good to give the committee the skaters perspective, too . If you got questions with the process/registering/getting there please let me know and I can try to help out.

The Plaza at this stage is a non-permanent site and the process in the next few months should bring a decision about the future of the Plaza. It is really important for skaters to have their opinions heard, so please spread the word and tell other skaters about the meeting !
