Youth Week got rained out pretty bad, but having said that, lots of young kids, their parents, lots of Vancouver Skateboard Coalition peeps and politicians came out and we had really good time.

Well, we got through our first parade. I don’t think I have ever been in a parade before. At least not that I can remember.
Anyhoo, we had a fun time. It was a really, really long parade and it was packed with happy people. They loved us, of course. The parade ended with a Carnival-type thing, with booths giving out free stuff and free rides for the kids. We had a booth for a bit until we found out that it was someone else’s booth. The BMX guys had some ramps set up and they were doing crazy jumps so we set up camp with them for a while.
We are still working on building our crazy, skate-ramp-float. It should be ready for the next parade and it’s gonna rule!

The Vancouver Skateboard Coalition has been invited to attend The Collingwood Days Parade. We need you to come skate in the parade! Thanks to our Es sponsorship we should have some goodies to give away.
The theme this year is EVOLUTION OF TRANSPORTATION. The parade will consist of many forms of alternative transportation, illness with the focus on reducing negative effects on the environment. Collingwood Days will include several events such as information booths, dosage food stands, ask and multicultural performances, history displays and story telling.
May 26th
10 – 11 am – Parade Assembly at Joyce Skytrain Station Community Garden, Stage, Plant Sale and swap
11 – 12 pm Parade to Carlton School Site Booths, entertainment, fun and games.

You all know about Skull Skates. And if you know about Skull Skates then you know about PD’s Hot Shop. And if you know about PD’s Hot Shop, then you also probably know about their annual yard sale. Well guess what kids? The time has come again.
My name is Dylan and I’m working with a production in Vancouver shooting a Kohl’s Clothing commercial that will be in production early next month. I am currently doing some “street casting†or casting for real people with no experience and no agent for this particular as we are seeking Skateboarders and BMX riders to be featured in it. If there is anyway for you to spread the word about this particular project I would greatly appreciate as I’m not very involved in the skateboarding community and have limited resources within it.
We are looking for:
BOYS & GIRLS – 16-19 – Skateboarding ability or can ride BMX
Auditions will be held, order
SUNDAY MAY 12th 2007
10-11am – Lonsdale Skatepark, N Van 12:15-2pm – Kirkstone Skatepark, N Van
2:30 – 3:30 – Parkgate Skatepark, N Van
4:30 – 5:30 – Hasting Skatepark, Van
6:00-7:00 – Downtown Skatepark (under the viaduct), Van
Basically it’s as easy as filling a form, talking to us on camera for 30 and going for a quick taped ride. You don’t get paid to audition but if selected the rider would make $500 for the day & $1500 compensation for the buyout…. So $2000 for a day’s work!
