The trial of Lee Matasi’s killer appears to be coming to an end. On Wednesday jurors will get their instructions from the judge and they will make their decision. I will let you know when that happens.

We got this e-mail last week from Michel Desrochers of the Vancouver Park Board. It’s got important info about the future of China Creek:
The Park Board approved the “concept plan” for the upgrade to China Creek South Park in January 2007. At that time, the Park Board committed to host one more public meeting, so that you could view the detailed construction plans before a contractor is hired to perform the changes at the park (now planned for spring 2008). The meeting is scheduled for:
Tuesday, November 27th @ 7:30 pm
Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House (800 East Broadway)
The detailed construction plans will show you:
A) changes to the skateboard area;
B) new children’s playground and nearby plaza;
C) new community garden;
D) new pathways and the new 10th Avenue bike path;
E) new landscape feature as a way to remember China Creek (the old stream);
F) other proposed park features.
We are in communication with the YMCA (operators of the Nanook Daycare) and may have plans at the meeting regarding the construction of their new daycare.

THANK YOU -Everybody that made it out to LEESIDE SUNDAY NIGHT. It was a wonderful, approved postive, supportive, good time. We could not have asked for more.
For those of you that plan to come to the trial. the trial could last 2-3 weeks. Times are from 10-12:30 ish Mon to Fri there is a lunch break from 2-4 ish. The courtroom on the 6th floor most likely, but check at the front Vancouver Supreme Court on Smithe St (downtown,) Please keep in consideration that You MUST be on your best behavior. Anything WE do to bother the defense lawyer and the judge could mean a closed courtroom and we DO NOT want that. The JUDGE has decided there can NOT be any I HEART LEE MATASI t-shirts in the courtroom .This is understandable. Today went as well as to be expected . Our hearts go out to Susan, Lou and Alison.

The Leeside Tunnel Roast was a success! Lotsa folks turned up. The trial starts today. I will try and keep you updated on the progress. Lets hope for justice, but what really matters is that we keep Lee’s dreams alive.

Hoping this reaches you all. We are having a LEESIDE TUNNEL ROAST tomorrow at LEESIDE that will include coffee, hot chocolate, music from take 5 and Stefan, skateboarding and remembering. We are bringing down a BBQ, maybe to use for marshmallows or maybe just to warm the hands and we have a bundle of X-large – I HEART LEE MATASI T-shirts to give away for supporters to wear to the trial.
