yah dude, i am one of the dudes that rode the bowl series with him and was a china creek local for 10 yrs, he used to take us all over in his volts wagon, and the most rememberable thing I saw him do at his bowl in north van was out of the bottom bowl to a late front flip, if anyone knows him u have seen that, i love u hartley, it really bothers me I was not there and could have at least taken some of the action u took, u know what i mean, we used to laugh at how i always took the hardest slam every time, but this time i was not there, i love u dude, peace i will carry on ur love.

the first time i saw don harley niko weiss and i were skating the kiddie mini wading pool at kits beach honing surfer moves maybe 1975 it was like 2 feet deep maybe 20' around now long gone rob leshgold will remember it niko lived with his mom just up the beach a few blocks on the hill so we skated there alot before "gronk" bruce mathie set us up bigtime with pro skater jobs (thanks alot pepsi! )

anyways don was always blasting by the pathway on his beach cruiser he was just cranking madly we looked at each other and said "ripper!!!' at the same time
later we found out don was a real ass dragging master carver shreadder skater a loner-longboarder nobody could keep up with him on any terrain back then he would make a sudden blizgig appearance carve circles around everyone and be gone as fast as he showed up

i became pretty good friend with don he would rarely stop for anything in the old days of skating the banks below burrard st bridge downtown parking china creek the palace etc
he was king of flow

respect don
