WITS 2009 is on right now, where are you?

Harry Jerome Skatepark in North Vancouver is looking to hire a skateboard instructor. If you know of somebody that might be able to fill this position, please forward this along to them.

You have until June 26th (next Friday) to get your resume in.

Looks like 2009 is off to a promising start… there’s a Park Board meeting on Monday, January 19th and number three on the agenda is a potential new skatepark at Kensington Community Centre (on Knight St. between 33rd and 37th). I’ll be there, but if you live in that area and would like to see a skatepark there, you should show up because they’ll value your opinion more than that of a guy who lives five minutes from Hastings.

The meeting is at the Park Board (2099 Beach Ave.) at 7:00pm. You’ll want to talk, so register by calling Julie Casanova at the Park Board at 604-257-8451 by noon on Monday.

Happy New Year kids. The Vancouver Skateboard Coalition’s first meeting of 2009 is tomorrow. That’s Wednesday, January 7th. And please note our change of venue… it’s going to be at Boulevard, Kevin Kelly’s new skateshop. That’s out in Kerrisdale at 5305 West Boulevard.

As mentioned below, the Coalition recently had an election. 2009 has the makings of being a great year for skateboarding in Vancouver, and our new board is stoked to get things underway.

Hey everyone, Thor, who heads up the Leeside Stewardship Group just made a short video about Vancouver’s favourite DIY skatepark. Yes. Leeside. The video is called “Tunnel Visions” and it’s a quick look at the history of the place and at what’s going on down there right now. Check it out. And keep an eye and ear open for Coalition members and associates.

Since elections seem to be the hot thing in this autumn of 2008, we here at the Vancouver Skateboard Coalition have decided to jump on the bandwagon with an election of our own. What positions are we voting on? All of them! President, vice president, secretary, treasurer, enthusiastic board members, etc.
